Chief Executive promotes IDEA at an Arctic conference

The importance of IDEA's work was reinforced by Chief Executive Dr Peter Funnell at a recent conference in Svalbard, the Norwegian archipelago located just 750 miles from the North Pole.

The paper 'Engaging employers/empowering workers: promoting quality through the effective use of ICT in workplace learning' was given at the invitation of the Norwegian universities at this prestigious event. Speaking after the conference Dr Funnell said:

"Information and communications technologies have a critical role to play in the development of workbased learning and the subsequent development of skills and talent. I was delighted to explore elements of this through reference to my own professional experience and to make particular reference to the innovative work being undertaken by IDEA. The audience of Scandinavian academics and senior educational managers where interested in the model of practice established by IDEA and this has opened up opportunities for practical action and collaboration in the future'
